Dealing with Anger – Antidote to Anger

Nov 2, 2018 | Discipleship

Ephesians 04:31-32 AMP
Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.

Series: Dealing With Anger

How can we replace anger with a better emotion?

● The Bible disallows you to express negative emotions of anger, but you’re allowed to be useful, to become kind, tenderhearted, compassionate, empathetic, forgiving, to let go just as God in Christ forgave you.

● If you’ve already starved your ego and put it to death, then this would be an easy task.

● However, responding to the hurt, and all evil thrown against you is vital. Jesus didn’t tell you to walk away from the person who slaps you but to respond in kindness to him/her.

● Replace your anger with kindness, abusive language with helpfulness, bitterness with compassion. This is the antidote to anger. Replace walking in the flesh with walking in the Spirit.
