Object of Mercy

Sep 14, 2018 | Discipleship

Deuteronomy 13:18 NLT
The LORD your God will be merciful only if you listen to His voice and keep all His commands that I am giving you today, doing what pleases Him.

God gave us a commandment to love Him with all our heart, mind and soul.

In the new testament we don’t have the law of sin and death that was prevalent in the old testament, but we still have the law of the spirit.

Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love the Lord and the people around you. And He also says that if we don’t listen to His commandments and don’t love the people and forgive them, the forgiveness that is given to us will be taken back.

Deuteronomy 13:18 says that the Lord will be only merciful to us if we keep His commandments, else He will withdraw His mercy from us.

Paul says in Galatians 1:10,  I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

Paul lived a sacrificial life for people around him. Infact Jesus taught us to live like this.

People generally wants to hear from God how good we are and how much He is going to bless us and bother less about others.

One of the reason why God uses prophets so much is because they want to hear His voice for others.

Are you willing to do that and ask God to speak to you about the brothers and sisters around you? If you are unselfish to go to God with such passionate love, you will be an object of God’s mercy.

Why do you and I need to be an object of God’s mercy? It is because though we are God’s children and washed by the blood of Jesus, we still fall into sin and hence we need mercy and grace from God. And the only way to obtain mercy from Him is by listening to His ways and by keeping His commandments.

Today, listen to His voice, obey and put it in action and you will receive mercy.
