Repent from Works

Apr 2, 2020 | Evangelism

Revelation 9:20-21 ESV
The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk, nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

This scripture talks about the people who were not affected by the plague on the earth during that time. It describes of how God talks about the rest of mankind in this situation. God is looking at how we are going to respond. God expected the rest of mankind to repent from the works of their hands. God is seeking for repentance and to know in what our hands are constantly engaged in. In this context, the rest of the people did not repent they thought the works of their hands are only feeding and protecting them.

It is necessary for us to trust in God than the works of our hands, businesses, jobs during this season. It is not always necessary that false idols and gods that are believed is the greatest temptation but it is the works of our hands or the priority we give to our job. We let our jobs and careers to determine the course of our life. We idolise our career and job.

During this season, we must identify the thing we are idolising and worshipping and walk away from it. We need to repent from it. The people did not repent from their murders. Jesus elevated murders to hate. If we hate people and do not carry the love of God, we are equal to murderers. Even if you wish bad for another person, these jealous wishes acts as witchcraft. Let us pursue sexual purity not only physically but also mentally. The people did not repent from their thefts, so let us give to God rather than steal from Him.

Let us be sexually pure in our bodies and mind. Let us not be murderers but lovers of God. Let us give to Him than steal. Let us not worship the works of our hands but completely surrender to Him. And the only way we could seek for forgiveness is through Jesus.
