“O Israel and Judah, what should I do with you?” asks the Lord. “For your love vanishes like the morning mist and disappears like dew in the sunlight.
Series: Israel the Prostitute
This week we’ve been studying in the book of Hosea, how God is telling the people of Israel that “You have been unfaithful, disloyal and inconsistent with your love for Me. You have not given Me your 100%.”
Hosea 6:4 says, “O Israel and Judah, what should I do with you?” says the Lord. “For your love vanishes like the morning mist and disappears like dew in the sunlight.”
God is talking to the people of Judah and Israel and He is saying that their love is so unstable and undependable and it disappears like a morning mist and like a dew in the sunlight.
Can you relate with that? Sometimes, is not our worship, our prayer life and devotions that way to God?
We go to God with complete affection, devotion and everything and immediately something happens and then everything evaporates and we lose track of Him.
God says that these kind of people are unfaithful and disloyal to Him and they only go to Him for blessings and don’t have a true love towards Him. But God is looking for people who will love Him fully.
God is not after your money or songs. He has all angels that will sing songs for Him in heaven all day long and all throughout eternity. What He is after is your love. If you can express your love for God, through the songs that you sing and offerings that you give, the work that you do and ministry that you have ,that is what God is after.
God wrote to the church of Ephesus in Revelation 2 – “Remember your first love..”,
God is asking – where has that love gone? What has happened to you? Why is that you don’t love Me like that anymore?
Why is that you don’t have the same passion and desire for Me now?
God is saying, “Return back to that first love”. If you don’t do that then God will not be able to continue the relationship, passion and love with you.
Although God’s love for us is unconditional, when you love Him back that’s when the church will be become eligible to be His wife.
The one thing that qualifies you and I to be the bride of Jesus is that you should be passionately committed to Jesus and do His will and be after His presence all through your lives. That is the true definition of the bride of Jesus.
God is calling you and me into a continual and consistent love for Him .
Paul said in Romans 7 – There is absolutely nothing good in our hearts. But if we would invite the Holy Spirit, then He will come and pour the love of God into our hearts .
The bible says in Romans 5:5 – And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.
If you lack love for God, if your love, prayer, bible reading, church going, fellowship with other believers is inconsistent then ask the Lord to fill you with love, the love which is mentioned in Romans 5:5 and when He fills you with that love, then there’s going to be an overflow, an increase and a consistent nature in your relationship with God.
My prayer and my hope for you is that you will not be like the prostitute Israel but like the faithful bride, the new and holy Jerusalem that will follow Jesus all the days of your lives.
