Psalm‬ ‭44:1-3‬ ‭MSG‬‬
We’ve been hearing about this, God, all our lives. Our fathers told us the stories their fathers told them, How single-handedly you weeded out the godless from the fields and planted us, How you sent those people packing but gave us a fresh start. We didn’t fight for this land; we didn’t work for it—it was a gift! You gave it, smiling as you gave it, delighting as you gave it.

This podcast was originally published on December 3, 2015.

The author of this psalm begins by thanking God for the great things God has done in his life, the author also goes on to proclaim and acknowledge the wonderful works that He has heard from his father, from his father’s father, and from their fathers.

Lets take a moment to think and ponder on what we have learnt or grasped from our fathers? or what are we teaching our children? Is it about money? Is it about relationships or career? what are we constantly talking about to our children?

It is a very necessary to not only talk about the good things but also about the “God” things.

Now, we must note that our children witness to what we do and say. The more we start gossiping or grumbling, our children our going inherit that kind of lifestyle as well, but the more we start thanking and praising God for good works in our lives, our children are going to turn out to be like Davids, going public and praising God for his unfailing love and mercies.

The Psalmist also beautifully teaches his children that the land was given as a “gift” to them. The Psalmist does not tell that they had to work hard to receive a gift from God or we need to work hard to earn love from God.

If we are prosperous or if we are being blessed by God, let us not get into thinking that we are perfect or good enough to receive a gift from God, but God is a kind and compassionate God that in spite of our weaknesses and our struggles with sin He wishes to bless us.

Today, can we start journal our lives about God’s wonderful works? Can we live out our lives in a such a way that people would know who God is!
