“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Series: Overcoming the Devil
God has a specific plan and a purpose for each of our lives. And the reason we miss God’s plan for our lives is not because he does not want to bless us, or direct us.
It is most often because we are not attentive to the purposes of God in our lives and also cause the devil is constantly distracting us. He did the same thing with Jesus by giving Him alternate routes and options thus tempting Him to make the wrong choices.
So often we fall prey to these temptations the devil brings our way and we miss out on God’s best. This week I would like to encourage you to not fall prey to the world of the enemy.
James 4:7 says humble yourselves before God and resist the devil. Many believers only resist the devil but do not humble themselves before God. It doesn’t make sense if you resist the devil if you are not leading a lifestyle of submission to God.
If you are committed to God’s voice and His word it will give you power to resist the devil.
Humbling yourselves to God would sometimes mean being willing to die, willing to be ashamed and willing to give up your own rights. Jesus has given you the authority to resist the devil and if you do that, as a natural effect he will flee.
May we be the generation that will humble ourselves before God.
“Father God, give grace to your children at whatever temptations they are in to submit and humble themselves under Your mighty hand and to resist the devil because this week we are going to overcome the devil and his tactics in the might name of Jesus we pray. Amen.”
