Prayer & Thanksgiving

Jun 4, 2019 | Prayer

Colossians 4:2 HCSB
“Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.”

God is doing amazing things through our lives, and there is worship going out into the presence of God because of us, but when we stretch out our faith and expect something greater and bigger, that will make us become more dependent on God.

There are two extremes that people often go to;

The first extreme is that we can be so grateful and content with where we are and we stop dreaming about what God wants to do for and through us in a greater measure. The other extreme of people are those that are constantly praying for greater things, but they refuse to be thankful and grateful for what God has already done.

Apostle Paul mentions about two things that are extremely important for us:

1. We need to devout ourselvesto a lifestyle of pursuit and to commit ourselves to go after greater and stronger territories of the enemy.

So often we live our lives thinking that the devil is after us to attack and take us down, but fail to understand that God when He created the world, He did not put us into it so that the enemy can be after us, but instead He gave us the authority to exercise it over the enemy. It is not us, but it is the devil who is supposed to run away from us. That is how we are supposed to live our lives.

2. We need to always stay alert with thanksgiving. Sometimes in our journey to become intentional at bringing down kingdoms or throwing strongholds, we become so discontent with our present and past that we begin to despise them. Sometimes we dishonour the work of God that He has already done. We begin to criticise the church and our pastors. It is true that God can do great things through our pastors and through our churches, and there is absolute scope for more and that does not give us the liberty to crib about those same people that God used in our past and in our present. When we begin to be ungrateful about them, we lose the favor of God over our lives.

Today let do not forget to give thanks to God for what He has done already. Along with that, pursue greater things and constantly pray for greater victories that God has in store for you.
