Fruitful Vineyard and Garden

Apr 20, 2018 | Revival

Isaiah 5:7
The nation of Israel is the vineyard of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. The people of Judah are His pleasant garden. He expected a crop of justice, but instead He found oppression. He expected to find righteousness, but instead He heard cries of violence.

Series: The Book of Isaiah

In all the prophetic books in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, we see a lot of judgment being spoken against sin and we see God’s discipline against sin. The enemy tries to use this to deceive and tell us that God doesn’t really love us – but judgment is not all that’s written in the prophetic books.

Isaiah 5:7 speaks about God’s love for Israel. It’s a chapter of judgment written in a tone of love and shows us how much God loves and desires a beautiful harvest. This is God’s heart for the church today. In the Old Testament, the nation of Israel represents the church in the New Testament. The church is the vineyard and God is expecting a fruit as a natural result of our love for Him and our relationship with Him. In John 15:5, Jesus said “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”

God planted the vineyard, gave the resources and put the Holy Spirit inside of us. But we still bear the bad crop of oppression and violence. This calls for a revival move of God in the church today. If we look at the church at large, we find many sad stories. There are stories of people being cheated by pastors and by those who are expected to lead and guide newcomers. God looks at such a garden that is bearing the seeds of oppression and wishes to send a change.

Change starts with one person, in one heart. Are you willing to let your heart be transformed? Are you willing to let your mind be captured by the desire of God for the church?

If you let God do that in your heart, it will overflow into the church you attend, into the city you live in and into the family and friends you speak over.

Wherever Paul went, there was either a revival or a riot. Let that be our desire – not a normal lifestyle of Christianity with neutral areas but a lifestyle where there is a revival or a riot with the move God brings.

“Father we pray that You will do something so unique in the way that only You can do. Send Your Spirit upon Your church in a new way this weekend. Speak in to the hearts and bring a revival move into each heart so that it will transfer the rest of the church and city. We are waiting for You to do something new in Your garden. Even before things change in the world, we pray it will change in the church. We thank You for what You are about to do. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.”
