Isaiah 39:8
Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “This message you have given me from the Lord is good.” For the king was thinking, “At least there will be peace and security during my lifetime.”

The greatest purpose of our lives is not accomplished in serving ourselves but serving God and the people around us. Click To Tweet Just as the Bible says, love God and love your neighbours. (Matthew 22:37-39)

We generally think about ways God can bless us and how we can bless God with our worship. That’s being selfish. We have to come to a place where we are mindful about the people around us.

God sends Isaiah to speak to King Hezekiah and to give him a message about how terrible a mistake it was for him to put his trust on the Babylonians and show all the wealth which resulted in losing the favour of God. God continues to say that his children would be taken captive into Babylonian land and every thing would be stolen away as plunder.

King Ahab was a wicked king of Israel and when a prophet had given a similar message, he wept and cried in the presence of the Lord. But King Hezekiah said, “This message you have given me from the Lord is good.”

How can plunder be good? This is what the king was thinking to himself that at least in his lifetime there will be peace and security.

When you become focused about ‘your lifetime and yourself’ and how peace and security can be kept in place when you are in a position where you don’t lose anything then you are a selfish person.

The way that you live your life, you'll either be a blessing or a burden to a generation. Click To Tweet

Every choice, decision and prayer you pray it is not just for yourself but you’re doing it to a generation.

When the king got a message from the prophet about his death he went on his knees and cried but when he got a message about his children and nation being ruined his response changed.

Why did he not have the same passion? Why did he say it’s a good message?

Revival cannot come if we're holding onto 'my lifetime' type of a message. Click To Tweet

When you are receptive to God, you will receive His word and the way you respond to that it would say whether you will become a blessing or a burden to a generation.
