Preaching Jesus

Jan 8, 2020 | Revival

Acts 10:44 NLT
Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.

Series: Receiving the Holy Spirit

We have been studying about receiving the presence of the Holy Spirit and How just a breathe from Jesus was enough to have a fresh impartation of the Holy Spirit for the disciples.

We also spoke about how the apostles moved in the giftings of laying on hands. It was one of the fundamental foundational principles and doctrines of the first century church. This reminds us of the importance of interpersonal relationships, so that we look for people who are anointed by God and get them to lay hands and pray for us.

Here’s another thing that we see in Acts 10:44.

Here Peter didn’t even lay hands on people or give any altar call, all that he did was teach about who Jesus is and what He did for them and how He was crucified and died for them and had resurrected. He just began to exalt Him and all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit was poured out on people.

When you go to minister wherever God has called you to minister, teach them the word of God and exalt Jesus. Don’t just focus on breathing or laying on of hands. The more you reveal Jesus, explain about Jesus to people, the more the Holy Spirit is drawn, attracted and called towards that person who is receiving the voice of Jesus.

The reason it’s important to read the Bible every morning or listen to the voice of God through your pastors, podcasts, or anyone who has godly counsel, is because when you receive the word of Jesus, your life will look attractive to the Holy Spirit to fall upon. When you keep your ears open to the word of God, you are opening up your life for an invasion of the Holy Spirit over your life.

Many a times the church doesn’t experience encounters with God because Jesus is no longer exalted. We run after everything but Jesus. Just preaching the word is not enough, preaching Jesus is necessary. Leading people through scripture to Jesus is what will yield the presence of the Holy Spirit over their lives.

Let’s pray that as we go out and start talking about Jesus, there will be people who will hear the voice of Jesus and will be saved and will be filled with the Holy Spirit.
