Revelation 12:11b NLT
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”

Series: Overcoming the Devil

In the previous podcast, we learnt the power in the blood of Jesus. Today we continue with the same verse, speaking more on the testimony, as it says, ‘and by their testimony’, or as some translations say, ‘by the word of their testimony’.

While the blood of the Lamb wipes away your past and everything that’s got to do with sins, struggles, pain, sickness, the testimony, or the word of the Testimony, is something so powerful it takes care of you in your today, and directs you in your tomorrow.

What is the testimony?
It can include what God has already done for you. However, the greatest and the best testimony you have is not what has happened to you in the past, because that may or may not be completely true or reliable, or something that you can depend upon always.

The primary, greatest and best testimony God has given you, is the Bible. Everything written in the Bible about you, every scripture about you, is true.

Every scripture is breathed by God. And what is the breathe? It is the Holy Spirit. He is present in every single scripture. When you speak and declare these scripture confessions by faith, something supernatural and divine happens in the spirit realm and over your body, soul, mind and spirit.

One of the things the enemy uses to keep you in captivity is lies. The best way to expose the lies of the enemy is by speaking the word of your testimony, which is the Bible, the word of truth. The best way to overcome these lies is by giving heed to the truth of God’s Word

But how will you confess the scriptures if you’re not constantly reading the Word? How will you know the truth if you’re not willing to submit to a constant devotional time with the Word of God? You can only do so by reading your bible everyday.

You need to be a ferocious student of the Word of God. You should not read the Bible, you should love the Bible. You should learn the principle of being totally, crazily, madly in love with the Bible, so much so that everyday, every hour you would go to the Word and look for something that God wants to speak.

The mistake many of us make is by stopping at reading the Bible, highlighting the verses and writing down the revelations. However the power is not in you reading the Word, but in declaring, confessing and decreeing that word over your life.

That is why the Bible says, “We defeat the enemy by the word of their testimony”. It’s never enough to read a single verse, or even by sharing your testimony. You need the Word of God, which is alive, active, and powerful. When you depend on the Word of God, you will be able to defeat the enemy.

The enemy is not afraid of your word as much as He’s is afraid of God’s voice. When you declare the Word of God, you’re echoing the words and voice of God, the heart beat of God, and speaking the language of God.

May God’s Word become your testimony, His voice become the word of your testimony, may you inherit it from Jesus, and let it become a part and parcel of your everyday language, conversation and words that you speak.
