So Elijah went and found Elisha son of Shaphat plowing a field. There were twelve teams of oxen in the field, and Elisha was plowing with the twelfth team. Elijah went over to him and threw his cloak across his shoulders and then walked away.

1 Kings 19:19 NLT

Transcript:

We all have heard or read about the story of Elijah and Elisha in the Bible. In 1 Kings chapter 19, verse 19, we read how their spiritual journey began as a father and son and how Elisha got a double portion of Elijah’s anointing.

Truth be told, Elisha did not attend a training school to be used by God. Elisha’s training ground was a different one and it was in his earthly father’s plowing field. He was doing a secular work for which he got no returns but he was still found doing it faithfully and diligently and gave his 100%.

Before God could anoint, appoint and promote us, God will test us with what we have been given and in the case of Elisha, he was found hard working and faithful with what he was doing, plowing his earthly father’s field with twelve teams of oxen.

Today, dear brothers and sisters, if you are waiting for God’s call over your life, simply be faithful with what you have in your hands. Faithfully and diligently work hard to do whatever you are doing. May be a job or even serving at Church, whatever you do, do it for the glory of God and God will come through for you.
